Venue Security

Safety & Security

Here at York Barbican, your safety is our priority and we work with a range of partners, including Showsec, GSS and Gough & Kelly to ensure that your visit is safe and enjoyable.

All of our staff, from our highly-trained security team to our customer services representatives play a vital role in keeping visitors safe.

We take the safety and security of all our visitors very seriously. If you're coming to the venue for a show, please ensure you arrive in plenty of time to pass through our security checks and familiarise yourself with our security information below.

You may see plain clothed officers here carrying out Project Servator deployments. These are unpredictable deployments, designed to disrupt a range of criminality, including terrorism. They involve officers specially-trained to spot the tell-tale signs that someone may be planning or preparing to commit a crime. If you see officers in the venue, they love to talk to our visitors about what they are doing, so feel free to chat to them.

Find out more about Project Servator here https://www.counterterrorism.police.uk/servator/

You can help to keep us all safe by reporting anything that doesn’t feel right. Don’t ever be concerned about reporting anything that doesn’t feel right, no matter how minor you think it is. Trust your instincts and we will do the rest.
