York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir
The York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir was founded in 1925. Since then, ‘The Phil', as it is affectionately known, has been enriching the lives of its members and community.
Whether your taste is for contemporary or classical, West End or opera, folk song or spiritual, the wide repertoire of music the choir performs will offer both entertainment and pleasure.
The choir has had the privilege of performing in renowned venues in the UK and Europe, including the Royal Albert Hall, Castle Howard, the York Castle Museum and York Minster. In 2023 the Phil came first in all three applicable classes of the National Choir Festival, held in Whitby (North Yorkshire) and, in 2024, came first in two of the three classes.
The net proceeds will be divided equally between the three charities we support – North Yorkshire Music Therapy Centre, Shine 21 and Menfulness.
Mike Wash, the Choir’s Chairman, states:
"To celebrate our Centenary year we are bringing together over 200 voices in harmony with the York Philharmonic Male Voice choir. This will be a unique and inspirational occasion raising funds for three local charities. The unique and magnificent sound of this award winning choir will showcase their most popular songs alongside choirs from Malton, Easingwold and Huntington School including a Brass Ensemble from the RI Golden Rail Band. This promises to be a spine tingling, hair raising and joyous occasion.”
