York Guildhall Orchestra: A John Barry Celebration
York Guildhall Orchestra has been considering a concert of film music for a while now, and the opportunity to be able to get the film music scores of one of York’s more famous and talented individuals was too good to miss.
For their first concert in their 44th season, York Guildhall Orchestra are delighted to present a flavour of John Barry’s film score output over the many years he was involved in the industry - some will be very familiar and some perhaps not so, but nonetheless worthy of a hearing.
The orchestra is joined by local soprano Jo Pears and local chamber choir the Ebor Singers – and the evening will be hosted by BBC Radio York’s very own Elly Fiorentini.
The programme will include extracts from:
- Born Free
- Moonraker
- Octopussy
- Out of Africa
- Dances with Wolves
- The Lion in Winter
- Goldfinger
- Chaplin
- Zulu…
…plus many others.
Come along to a concert of nostalgic reminiscing, and enjoy the film music world of John Barry.
