After a lifetime as a comedian Dave Johns was tipped for Best Actor at The Academy Award after starring in Ken Loach’s I, Daniel Blake and winning the main award at The Cannes Film Festival, and a BAFTA. A string of further awards followed culminating in Best Actor at the British Independent Film Awards. Dave is also a regular guest on comedy panel shows Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC2) and 8 Out Of Ten Cats (CH4) and is widely regarded as one of the top headline acts in the country.
A stand up comic since 1989 and now film regular, Dave no longer tours the country or the world and is highly selective about where he does comedy these days — so this is a rare chance to see him in town. As an inventive, exciting and extremely funny comedian he has won applause from his audiences, respect from his fellow comics and rave reviews from the critics.
Also on the bill is Paul Pirie - a physical, theatrical presence on stage, his sharp, rapid-fire comedy onslaught is packed with highly entertaining material, which blurs the lines between real-life anecdotes and flight of fancy. It has been observed that he channels the late Robin Williams at his most excitable and many regard as the natural hierarchy to Billy Connolly; Pirie’s act is absolutely hilarious.
And Josh Sedman is an award winning Yorkshire based comedian who has had rapid career progression since 2022, and is an act who has had fantastic reviews wherever he has performed. Comes fully equipped with ‘Wetherby Teeth’ (Yorkshire’s superior version of ‘Turkey Teeth’), a razor-sharp wit, and a lovely head of hair.
