Yorkshire band Alchemy announce their biggest concert to date, bringing a spectacular new orchestral production to York Barbican on Saturday 4 September 2027.
The music of Dire Straits has often been described as cinema for the ears. Now, a group of Yorkshire musicians are taking that idea a step further, with the world premiere of The Music of Dire Straits – An Orchestral Celebration at York Barbican on Saturday 4 September 2027.
The concert will see Yorkshire-based Dire Straits tribute band Alchemy undertake their biggest performance yet, joined by a specially assembled orchestra featuring strings and woodwinds.
The production will feature specially written orchestral arrangements of some of Dire Straits' best-loved songs, including Sultans of Swing, Romeo and Juliet, Money for Nothing, Brothers in Arms and the epic Telegraph Road, bringing a new dimension to music that has captivated audiences for decades.
For Alchemy, the concert marks a remarkable homecoming.
