It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is just around the corner, and it won't be long until we're all tucking into mince pies and enjoying the festive season.

Why not make Christmas this year one to remember with one our special festive shows at York Barbican, full of enchanting music, breathtaking dance performances and much more:

Take a trip to York Barbican this weekend for a dazzling production of the most famous ballet in the world, The Nutcracker.

Snow flurries, sweets, princes, magic and love are just some of the elements that will be brought together by The Russian State Ballet in this eternal seasonal favourite.

Full of familiar music such as the Waltz of the Flowers and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, the ballet continues to capture the hearts and imaginations of all generations across the world.

The ever-popular Carol Concert returns to York Barbican this December, having sold out regularly over the last few years and for many marks the beginning of the festive season.

The concert features some of the best local musical talents, such as York Music Forum Stage Centre Concert Band, Steve Cassidy, and multiple primary school choirs.

Come along for an afternoon of festive entertainment and exercise your vocals by singing your favourite Christmas Carols!

KATE RUSBY | 18 DEC 2019

Kate Rusby returns with another special festive concert, once again combining her engaging personality, expressive vocals and her sharp Yorkshire wit.

After fifteen years of enchanting audiences up and down the land, Kate’s Christmas tour for many become as much a part of the festivities as Christmas pudding itself!

Her show celebrates all the things that make Christmas so special as she and her fellow musicians perform fabulous songs, full of the goodwill and spirituality of the season.

Following the enormous success of their first New Year’s Family Concert in 2019, York Guildhall Orchestra returns to repeat the experience in 2020.

The Orchestra will welcome Opera North’s brilliant principal tuba player Brian Kingsley to play Tubby the Tuba and will be performing many other popular favourites and some surprise items, as well as welcoming back the fantastic dancers who joined them last time.
