How do I book a ticket

Book Online Buy - tickets online by clicking the 'Whats On' tab, which will take you to our ticket buying website. From here, you can browse our events by month using our Calendar option, or you can view our full programme by clicking Event Listings. Click the Purchase button to buy your tickets. Tickets are subject to a booking fee.

Personal Callers - Our box office is located to the left hand side of venue. The box office is open Monday-Friday 10.00am-2.00pm, and from 5.00pm on show nights.

By Telephone - Call our booking hotline on 0844 854 2757 Mondays-Saturdays 10.00am-6.00pm. Tickets are subject to a booking fee. Calls will cost 7p per minute plus your phone company’s Access Charge.

Please note, the Box Office is closed to personal callers and telephone bookers on Bank Holidays unless there is an event on at the venue

Will I be charged a booking fee?

All ticket sales through Eventim are subject to a service charge and a possible handling charge; these amounts are set in relation to the ticket price. Ticket sales via the York Barbican Box Office are also subject to a service charge.

The York Barbican Box Office makes no charge for cash payments.

Can I Park?

A parking voucher for Q-Park Kent Street car park can be bought from our box office for the reduced York Barbican rate of £5.50, valid from 3.00pm on the day of the concert until 9.00am the following morning. Please park your car first before purchasing a ticket from our Box Office counter. The Box Office counter opens at 5pm on show nights and will stay open until the end of the show. There are 4 disabled parking bays for Blue Badge holders in Q-Park Kent Street which are available on a first come, first served basis on the day. Will my tickets be posted to me?

Tickets booked can either be posted out for a charge or left for collection at the box office.

Tickets may be collected 48 hours after purchase; the cardholder must be present and produce the credit card, the booking reference number and sign for the tickets before they are released.

Please advise when my tickets will be sent out?

Tickets purchased from the venue are normally sent out at least two weeks before the show. If you have purchased tickets via another agent, please contact their customer services for confirmation.

Can you tell me when I am able to pick up my tickets from the box office and does it have to be on the day of the event?

Tickets purchased from York Barbican direct can collect their tickets at any time. Customers of other ticket agents can only collect on the evening of the show.

How can I collect my tickets if I am delayed?

Our Box Office will close at approx 9pm on an event night or just before the main act take to the stage.

Are there any age restrictions for shows at the York Barbican?

We request that no children under 14 come unaccompanied and we also advise that no under 14s go on the floor for standing floor shows. There may be specific age restrictions on certain shows, please check on the relevant event page for these restrictions.

Generally childrens shows allow babes in arms up to 23 months, however some shows specifically targeted at younger audiences require a ticket at the age of 12 months.

Does the York Barbican cater for special needs?

York Barbican prides itself on being accessible to everyone.

Designated seating within the York Barbican caters for wheelchair users and their carers or those with walking difficulties. We also offer lowered counters and disabled toilet facilities.

I have bought tickets for the standing floor but I have since broken my leg. Can I still come to the concert?

For your safety,and for those around you, we do not allow people using crutches onto a standing floor. This is because, even though your friends around you could help to look after you, crowd movement on the floor is unpredictable. However, we will always endeavour to find you an accessible position within the theatre so that you can still come to the concert. Please call our box office on 0844 854 2757 and they will do their best to find alternative tickets.

 

When is the best time to arrive at the York Barbican if I want to avoid standing in any queues to get in and need extra time to get to my seat?

Please arrive as close to the advertised door time as possible and you should encounter fewer people in any queue and then have more than enough time to get to your seat.

Why can I not take my own food into the York Barbican?

In accordance with common practice it is our policy not to allow guests to bring their own food and beverage into the building. The theatre endeavours to raise awareness to customers of this policy by printing on the reverse of tickets and on all ingress routes and above doors it clearly states that refreshments or refreshment containers are strictly prohibited. A varied range of refreshments is available inside the venue.

What should I bring with me? 

Patrons are advised to bring the least amount of belongings possible. Small bags are permitted but may be subject to searches and, at some events, may be removed from standing floor ticket-holders for collection afterwards. The unauthorised use of cameras, video or any other form of recording equipment is strictly prohibited. 35mm cameras are permitted at most events but professional cameras with a detachable zoom lens are not. At certain events, the promoter may request a ban on all photography and signs to this effect will be displayed at all entrances. No food or drink is to be brought into the venue. Banners are also prohibited.

What can I buy when I'm at the York Barbican? 

York Barbican has a large and varied number of refreshment stands offering a variety of hot and cold drinks, including alcoholic beverages and light refreshments. Our Fishergate Cafe is open on many of the events. For full information about eating and drinking. Official merchandise is also usually available inside the venue.

What should I do if I have a problem on the night?

Any problems should be notified immediately to one of the stewards. They will either be able to rectify the situation straight away or may refer the problem to the Event Manager on duty.

It is difficult for York Barbican to respond to a problem if it is not reported at the time.

Will there be any pyros-lasers-strobes at the event I'm attending?

Some shows have some form of flashing lighting or strobes. Signage is displayed around the foyers to advise people if pyros - lasers or strobes will be in use.

Do you have an induction loop.

The venue is fitted with an induction loop. Please contact the box office on arrival for more information.

How do I get to know what's on sale?

How do I find out event times?

Please refer to your ticket for door opening and start of show times. When available, event times will be displayed on the relevant concerts event page on our website. Please note due to the nature of live entertainment all times including end of show times are approximate and subject to change and we cannot confirm what time the main artists will arrive on stage in advance. Please arrive in plenty of time to avoid disappointment and to get through security and ticket checks. Please also be aware all concert goers are responsible for making sure they leave the venue in time to catch their last coach or train home.
